If you apply, you will be sent a postcard when we receive your application. APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE TWO COMPLETED EYC REFERENCE FORMS to be accepted and considered for an interview. For on-line applicants, instructions for obtaining and completing the Reference Forms are provided during the on-line application process. Applications and reference forms must be received by April 4, 2006. Applications received electronically or via the mail after April 4, 2006 will not be eligible for an interview. Up to three people will be interviewed for each job opening. If we receive more applications than available interview slots, names will be drawn in a lottery to select interviewees. On-line applications are recommended and preferred. Apply on-line at http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/eyc/.

If hired you will earn $7.63 per hour and be paid twice a month. Paychecks are mailed to you from the Department of Ecology's Headquarters in Olympia. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, usually 7:00am until 2:30pm. There will be two paid 15-minute breaks and a paid 30-minute lunch per 7.5 hour work period. You will be covered by Washington State Labor & Industries Insurance while working; but because this is a temporary job, there are no benefits: no overtime, no sick pay, no vacation pay, etc.

You will be responsible for supplying and wearing these boots while working on litter cleanup. Special reflective EYC T-shirts will be issued to you to be worn everyday, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor.

In addition to picking up litter, you will be sorting out many of the recyclable materials (aluminum cans, glass, scrap metal, etc.) that you collect. Your crew will take them to a recycling center. Any money generated from recycling will be divided among you and your crew mates. You will also be learning a great deal about the environment and keeping it clean and healthy.

If chosen for this job, you will receive paperwork that you and your parent/guardian must fill out and sign. This paperwork will be filled out at parent/guardian meetings held in mid-May. You will NOT be allowed to work without the completed paperwork.
